OY EUR-MARK AB

Many of you may have been intrigued by EURMARK’s official company name and wondered what the OY and AB mean. EUR-MARK is based in the Swedish-speaking part of Finland, in the region of Ostrobothnia on the west coast. For this reason, EUR-MARK has both the Finnish and Swedish company designations: OY stands for Osakeyhtiö and AB for Aktiebolag, both of which mean public limited company. EUR-MARK was founded as a family business by Gunder Spåra in 1992. A majority shareholding was subsequently sold to the financial investor OY WEDECO AB as a solution to the question of succession in 2008, while a minority interest went to the founder’s son, Patrik Spåra. The medium-term objective of finding a strategic investor was successfully fulfilled in July 2011 with the acquisition by KAISER AG.

The company is expected to achieve sales revenues of 12 million euros in 2011 and currently employs around 60 people at its base in Uusikaarlepyy. Particularly in recent years, EUR-MARK has been extremely successful, building up a leading market position in Finland, Sweden and Norway. The business relationship with KAISER has existed since the founding of EUR-MARK 19 years ago. From the start, EUR-MARK has always relied on KAISER components for its vehicles. The company’s experienced management team in Finland is to remain unchanged and the EUR-MARK brand will be retained as part of the KAISER Group. Kurt Vienonen, who joined EUR-MARK in 1994 and went on to become managing director in 2008, will continue to head the company as before. The contacts in sales also remain unchanged, i.e. Patrik Spåra for Finland; Gunder Spåra and Ronny Larssen for Sweden; Botnetank A/S for Norway; and Kurt Vienonen for Estonia.

Product portfolio

As a technical differentiating factor against other local manufacturers, EUR-MARK has used Virtually all its vehicles are equipped with special winter protection packages, enabling deployment in extreme climatic conditions. Another cornerstone of the product range is the Herkules dry suction unit with rotary piston compressor technology.

ArcticCombi

EUR-MARK builds a wide spectrum of combined suction/jetting vehicles which are specially designed for sewer cleaning at low outdoor temperatures down to -30 °C. All water-carrying components and the highpressure hose reel are insulated and protected by heated chambers. This enables the vehicles to be driven to the respective sites and to perform sewer cleaning operations at very low temperatures without any problem. The subdivision into fresh water and sludge tank takes the form of a “tank-in-tank” construction. The design is in stainless steel and a large proportion of the vehicles are optionally fitted with ADR equipment. On the vacuum side, the core component is the Hibon rotary piston compressor with a maximum air volume of 2,400 m3/h and up to 90% vacuum.

Herkules

The high-performance dry suction vehicle has a powerful Hibon rotary piston compressor which delivers an air flow of up to 9,000 m3/h. With 90% vacuum and an overpressure of up to 1 bar, this vehicle is ideally equipped for all dry suction and blowing operations. Exhaust air filtration is performed by over 72 filter pockets with fully automatic cleaning of the filter elements. With the aid of a blow injector, dry media such as gravel on a flat roof can be blown up and pneumatically distributed. The flexible suction boom offers ample reach and can be optimally positioned for any application, irrespective of whether the suction operation is to be performed in a downward or upward direction. All operating functions can be carried out by radio remote control. A high-pressure water pump is also available as an option. The Herkules, which can also be used for the suction of wet media, is a major cornerstone of the EUR-MARK product portfolio. Innovative technology has enabled the Herkules to become a technical benchmark in Scandinavia for this segment as well.
