This position requires someone who is able to operate the appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Must have a steady hand and great attention to detail.
Your responsibilities
- Adhere to all Kaiser Premier safety, attendance, and company policies and procedures
- Operate MIG and TIG welding equipment
- Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by equipment manufacturer and requirements of the application
- Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle
- Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
- Clean or degrease weld joint or work piece
- Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter
- Able to follow API Q1 and ISO 9001 standards: CAR’s, PAR’s, NCR’s, measuring equipment, and process control
Your profile and qualifications
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Setup components for welding according to specifications
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
- Be able to walk and stand throughout an eight-hour day, consistently able to lift 50 pounds, repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in manipulation of parts
- Align components using tape measures, squares, etc. and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
Position salary $18.00 - $24.00 hourly depending on experience
